Scope
Interior architecture for a new build
Size
200 m²
Location
Harjumaa, Estonia

The Client and the Property

The client sought to transform her childhood summer house into a year-round residence. Located a bit farther from the capital city, the property was set in a renowned vacation spot surrounded by beautiful beaches and nestled in a sandy pine forest. The original summerhouse was demolished to make way for a larger, modern home built in the same location. With a keen eye for sleek, luxury contemporary design, the client desired an elevated, cohesive aesthetic for her new home.

Main Challenges

The need for a sleek, comprehensive design that seamlessly flows throughout the entire interior. A requirement for bespoke built-in furniture solutions, especially for the double-height atrium spaces. The wish for detail-oriented design solutions for wall and ceiling paneling, as well as hidden doors. Careful material selection to ensure the design was both cohesive and durable, with long-lasting value.

Design Highlights

A cohesive, high-end design language that unifies the entire interior. Meticulously chosen materials including wood paneling made from European walnut veneer. Unique bespoke furniture tailored to the specific needs of the space, blending functionality with elegance.

The Clients and the Property

The clients, a young couple in their 20s, had spent years traveling the world before deciding to settle down and start a family. They purchased a two-story, 260 m² apartment in a two-family terraced house with a private garden, originally built in the 1980s. Located near the center of Tallinn, the house offered stunning sea views from both the bedroom and the rooftop terrace.

Main Challenges

The house was in need of significant renovation, showing signs of wear and age. The existing interior style didn’t align with the clients' vision or lifestyle. The layout was impractical and failed to meet their needs. Additionally, the garden had become overgrown, and several nearby trees obstructed natural light from entering the home.

Design Highlights

The renovation was centered around a unique concept inspired by the French Rococo movement, blended with a playful, contemporary design language. Key features included: A home-spa created through a complete reimagining of the space planning. A winter garden featuring a terraced patio area, seamlessly extending from the existing space. The design also incorporated an outdoor kitchen, set deeper into the ground to maximise the view of the garden from the winter garden. A luxurious master bedroom offering a beautiful sea view and access to the rooftop terrace. The space was enhanced with a private bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe, all incorporated into the new layout.

The Clients and the Property

The clients, a young couple in their 20s, had purchased a 90 m² loft-style apartment a year ago. They wanted to make the space feel more personal and aligned with their tastes and lifestyle. With a Pinterest board full of style inspirations and a clear understanding of their space planning needs, they sought to create a home that reflected their personality. Both frequently worked from home and enjoyed hosting friends and spending quality time together at home.

Main Challenges

Adding an extra room to serve as both a home office and guest room. Creating a more personal interior style. Redesigning the lighting plan, as the existing one was plain and limited to a few ceiling lights. Revamping the outdated kitchen. Addressing the overly open and airy layout, which didn’t suit their preferences.

Design Highlights

A bold, personalized concept blending vintage elegance with jazzy, retro elements, creating a fun and vibrant atmosphere. Innovative space planning that maximized functionality, introducing private nooks alongside an open living and kitchen area with terraced flooring in the home cinema zone. Clever bespoke solutions and built-ins tailored to the couple’s needs. Increased natural light throughout the apartment by incorporating glass block walls. Carefully selected iconic statement furniture and lighting pieces, elevating the overall design.

The Clients and the Property

The clients, a young couple with a dog, had lived in this house for some time and wanted to transform it into a space that reflected their preferences and felt more like home. The house, a functionalist-style property, featured a spacious garden and scenic lakeside views. Located near the capital, it offered a peaceful setting while still being close to the city for commuting.

Main Challenges

The interior felt too white and lacked character. There were no proper workspaces. The bathrooms were outdated. The entrance area lacked a mudroom and proper wardrobe storage. A walk-in wardrobe was missing near the bedroom, and some rooms felt cluttered due to inefficient layouts.

Design Highlights

Improved space planning at the entrance and bedroom areas for better functionality. A unique architectural concept with a continuous accent wall that flows through the rooms. Use of stylish materials that elevate the design while preserving the home's character.
